    Mug rugs for Christmas. IMG_0108
Usually my kids are with me/around me when I sew, and they're always aware and interested in what I'm making so I can't make them christmas presents that are surprises... but this year I'm trying! I've been working on Kindle cases for all three of them, and I'm so excited--I think I'm pulling it off! 🙂 Are you secret sewing this year? What does your gift sewing stack look like this year? photo-nov-28-3-15-52-pm

Naomi Grebe started the topic HSTs and QSTs in the forum Quilting 101
I've got a HST quilt and a QST quilt on my to do lists for the winter--they're going to be my easy quick quilts. 🙂 They're all cut out and ready to go for the day that the chain-stitching fever hits. My question: I'm worried about having repeats if I do the typical "draw a line through a block on stitch on either side of it" method. Then the same reds would be matched up to the same neutrals, and so on. But it's not like anyone other than me is going to look this close at the quilt either. So my question is, has anyone else gone to the trouble of cutting all the squares diagonal before chain piecing? And was it worth it? Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated! img_6036

A red version would be quite jolly, I\'ve done a green and pink one, with a scarf for winter wp_20160726_19_03_35_pro
On the sewing machine today... well, actually the cutting table. I made my nephew an ispy quilt last year to help with vision therapy, and my daughter was so upset when I gave it away. So this winter her sisters are going to sew her a new one... but I have to cut out the blocks for them. Yesterday I planned on cutting out four, and ended up cutting out 15! So fun! The plan is to make 110 5.5 inch economy blocks total so we are all going to work on it together. photo-nov-02-10-34-01-pm

October Christmas prep challenge: I have 2 items to enter - Figured if I post before pics I am more committed to actually finishing LOL! Will post finished pics when done. 1. Santa countdown calendar - started last year and obviously didn\'t get done. Needs more free-motion quilting on the Santa, back pocket for storing ornaments, buttons sewn on for hanging ornaments, binding, and rod for hanging. 2. Christmas tree skirt - free pattern from Moda Bake Shop \"Fruitcake Under My Tree\". All materials ready but wanted to make it larger so used the graph paper from the planner to make my new size. Thanks Becky! 20161017_14435620161017_154528
