This year the IAQ is teaming up with the guest designers for a Mystery Night Sky quilt along.
This is part mystery as the blocks from the designers are hidden until the month they are featured, and you’ll have to hunt them down (we’ll make it easy) before you can sew them.
Every other month additional instructions for quilt blocks in the medallion layout will be posted as well- so by the end of the year, you’ll have all your pieces ready for a quick assembly finish!
This quilt is perfect for using scraps or using your favorite fabric line.
Dates:
January 9th – Center Square
March 6th- Quilt blocks around the center block
May 8th- On point quilt blocks
July 3rd- Pinwheel quilt blocks
September 4th- Nine Patch quilt blocks
November 6th- Setting instructions
All mystery blocks will be posted the same day as the guest designer post- the link will be shared to the instructions for the block!
You can find all the blocks / posts here: https://www.iaquilters.com/mystery-night-sky-quilt-along/

Oh my goodness–how I love a block that has both background and light, beside medium and dark colors! I was pretty excited about this one, and I’ve got a rogue fabric pull I did by accident a few weeks ago that would work perfectly for this–I might have to make the quilt too. 🙂 Can’t wait to see everyone else’s!

Did you figure this out? Improv can be tricky as you are left to your own doings! Let us know if you need some help with this.
If I can remember right for this block, it’s similar to half square triangles- you put the square on the corner, sew from corner to corner, trim, press and square up if needed.
Where the wonky comes in is the size,…[Read more] -

Naomi Grebe replied to the topic SHARE YOUR CRAFTY NOMAD BLOCK 10 in the forum Night Sky Mystery BOM 2 months, 1 week ago
Thank you! I know–I haven’t done it yet. I keep thinking should I really bother but one of the quilts I finished last year had a snail trail block in it that I got the four patch turned around on, and I would have had to seam rip 16 seams to fix it, so I didn’t, and I am mad at myself every time I set eyes on that block in the finished quilt now.…[Read more]

Here’s mine! This block was so fun to pull fabric for—I ended up needing to switch out my center square for another fabric so that I’d have more contrast and I’m really happy with how this turned out. I’m particularly thrilled that I got my directional hearts all facing the same way! 😍 the one thing I’m not thrilled with is that somehow I g…[Read more]
